State law requires that a dog license be issued
by the County you live in for all dogs four (4) months and older.
Dog license fees are set by the Clare County
Board of Commissioners. License fees are reviewed each year by the
Board and any changes are made effective October 1.
If you are renewing a license in Clare County for
a dog that the County has already received proof of spay/neuter,
then only a current proof of rabies vaccination is required.
If you are licensing your dog for the first time
in Clare County or your dog has recently been spayed/neutered then
proof of spay/neuter is required along with a proof of rabies
vaccination to obtain a license at a reduced fee.
Dogs recently adopted from the Animal Shelter,
must have a license issued within 30 days of rescue. Verification
of Spay/Neuter is not required for license. Proof of adoption date
must be presented at time of purchase along with proof of rabies

Treasurer Office located in the County Courthouse. You can stop by
the Treasurer's Office at 225 West Main Street in Harrison.
If you prefer to obtain a license by mail please
print out the
FORM in pdf format and mail to the Clare County Treasurer,
P.O. Box 564, Harrison, MI 48625. Please have check or money order
made out for the proper amount and made payable to Clare County
Treasurer. Forms not filled out completely or missing proof of
vaccination or spay/neuter will be returned to you for more
